Carlos Luis
"Pajita" García Bes

He studied drawing and painting at the School of Fine Arts Ernesto de la Cárcova, with Emilio Centurión as one of his teachers. He was a scholarship holder from the province of Salta from 1940 to 1942. During the course of this last year, the national tour undertaken as a puppeteer with the group “The Seven” also served as an opportunity to exhibit his pictorial work. In 1943, he returned to settle in his hometown, and in 1948, he opened his drawing and painting workshop in the city of Salta.

His passion for puppetry led him to undertake various trips to Bolivia and Peru, along with, among others, Manuel J. Castilla. Starting in 1957, he began working in his ceramics and weaving workshop “El Caburé,” in addition to serving as an advisor to the Artisan Market. The following year, he conducted a survey of petroglyphs in various parts of the province, which became a source of inspiration for his tapestries.
